The Farm Manager will be responsible for the overall management and operation of the farm, ensuring efficient, profitable, and sustainable agricultural production. This role involves planning, organizing, managing staff, overseeing farm operations, and ensuring compliance with agricultural regulations and safety standards.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Stay informed about new agricultural techniques, technologies, and industry trends.
  • Implement innovative practices to improve farm efficiency, productivity, and sustainability:
  • Calculate crop yields and costs for specific plots.
  • Coordinate with contractors to install irrigation systems.
  • Establish a nursery and processing area.
  • Set up a composting area.
  • Able to guide guests on tours of the farm
  • Evaluate and adopt new crops, or production methods to diversify and enhance farm operations.
  • Oversee the day-to-day activities on the farm, including planting, harvesting and irrigation.
  • Monitor crop or livestock conditions, health, and progress, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Supervise and train farm staff by ensuring a skilled and motivated workforce.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities, providing guidance and support to ensure productivity and efficiency.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and implement development plans for staff.
  • Address any concerns or issues from the local community or stakeholders regarding farm operations.

Qualifications, Skills and Experiences:

  • BSc (Hons) Agricultural Science and Technology or any other relevant qualification
  • Proven experience in farm management or a similar role, with a strong understanding of organic farming practices and principles.
  • Experience in agroforestry will be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of crop production, soil management, and agricultural machinery.
  • Possesses knowledge and experience in ornamental and formal gardening, and understands how to integrate these with organic farming practices
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Possesses a valid driving license
  • Enthusiastic and motivated.
  • Open to learning from others and Team spirit.
