We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and dedicated individual to join ENL Property Limited as a Registered Part-Time Health and Safety Officer.

As a registered Safety and Health Officer, in compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act 2005, the job incumbent will be performing 8 working hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the formulation, implementation, review and communication of safety and health policies and procedures.
• Advise management on all matters under the Occupational Safety and Health Act 2005 and related legislations and ensure that all provisions are complied with.
• Advise management on practicable measures and appropriate techniques to be implemented to minimise any safety and health risks related to the operations of the company.
• Carry out regularly, risk assessments of all the work operations; formulate and implement appropriate measures to mitigate the safety and health risks.
• Design, plan, implement and evaluate training programmes aimed at meeting the requirements of the occupational safety and health legislation in force.
• Inspect all places of work on a regular basis, assess all safety and health risks and make recommendations thereon.
• Exercise adequate supervision to ensure the effective implementation of arrangements made and preventive measures taken.
• Enquire on complaints made by an employee and investigate any occupational accident & dangerous occurrences to prevent recurrence and recommend appropriate action to be taken.
• Keep up to date with all aspects of relevant safety and health at work legislation and communicate relevant changes to the management of the company.
• Develop and maintain effective communication systems on occupational safety and health between the employer and employees.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Degree of Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Occupational Safety and Health or Occupational Safety and Health Management offered by any public university in Mauritius or its equivalent as certified by the Higher Education Commission.
• A minimum of 3 years of working experience in occupational health and safety.
• Well conversant with the Occupational Safety and Health Act 2005, its regulations and related legislations and their applicability to the company’s business operations.
• Dynamic, focused and reliable person with strong interpersonal, administration and communication skills.
• Fluent in English and French, both written and spoken
• Good knowledge of Microsoft office tools (incl. Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
• Ability to cope with conflict, stress and crisis situations.
• Holder of a valid driving license.
